Sullivan & Triggs Welcomes Stephanie Command as Senior Associate

LOS ANGELES, Calif. — Ms. Command joins Sullivan & Triggs from Perkins Coie LLP, where she was a litigation associate in the firm's Washington, DC office. She began her career in private practice at White & Case LLP in New York, one of the world's leading international firms, where she worked on complex arbitration and commercial litigation matters, including representing a major health insurance company in litigation arising from a failed multibillion-dollar merger with another national health insurer and a $1.85 billion reverse termination fee.

Ms. Command's recent matters include serving on trial and appellate teams representing the Democratic National Committee and other Democratic organizations in litigation arising from challenges to the results and administration of the 2020 presidential election, including successfully defending against post-election challenges brought by the Trump campaign in Pennsylvania; representing the Montana Democratic Party in a constitutional challenge to newly enacted voting restrictions that culminated in a nine-day bench trial and a judgment striking down the challenged provisions; defending a leading political consulting firm in a First Amendment action concerning California's efforts to combat election misinformation on social media, resulting in dismissal of the claims against the firm; and representing political parties, national campaign committees, voting-rights organizations, and individual voters in federal litigation challenging restrictions on voter registration and mail-in voting in Texas. Her experience includes litigating complex constitutional and statutory questions on accelerated timelines in state and federal courts across the country, taking and defending fact and expert depositions, briefing dispositive and emergency motions, participating in trial proceedings, and handling appeals.

She has also maintained an active pro bono practice. Among other matters, she represented thousands of children in Flint, Michigan in a class action that resulted in a $4 million special education program for children affected by lead-contaminated water.

Prior to entering private practice, Ms. Command clerked for the Honorable Stephanie D. Thacker of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit and for the Honorable Frank P. Geraci of the U.S. District Court for the Western District of New York. She graduated magna cum laude from Cornell Law School, where she was elected to the Order of the Coif, served as an Articles Editor of the Cornell International Law Journal and as Executive Bench Editor of the Moot Court Board, and worked as a student-attorney in the Capital Punishment Clinic. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of Michigan.

At Sullivan & Triggs, Ms. Command joins the firm's litigation group alongside Sheldon Eisenberg and Courtney Elgart. The group represents clients in high-stakes commercial disputes, including representing clients the entertainment industry and bet-the-company disputes.

Ms. Command is admitted to practice in New York and the District of Columbia, as well as several federal district courts and courts of appeals.
