Firm News

The litigation group brings large-firm training and experience to a boutique practice, and pairs it with the attention and responsiveness a smaller firm can offer. Clients work directly with the partners handling their matters, from case strategy through trial.

Ms. Elgart represents commercial entities and individuals in high-value and high-profile commercial disputes in litigation and arbitration. She has tried cases in state and federal court and in domestic and international arbitral forums. Her practice emphasizes contractual disputes, questions of arbitrability under California law, and the representation of clients in the entertainment and media industries. With Mr. Eisenberg, she serves as co-lead counsel for the creator and executive producers of The Walking Dead in their litigation against AMC.

Her litigated outcomes include multi-million-dollar awards for a hotelier in arbitration, and for profit participants in a private arbitration.

"Courtney is an extraordinary lawyer and a formidable litigator, fully capable of managing and handling the most complex matters we take on. And woe to those cross-examined by her." — Sheldon Eisenberg, Partner at Sullivan & Triggs

Ms. Elgart joined Sullivan & Triggs in 2021 to form the firm's litigation group with Mr. Eisenberg. She came to the firm from Perkins Coie LLP, and clerked for the Honorable Guido Calabresi of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit and the Honorable Richard Andrews of the U.S. District Court for the District of Delaware. She graduated magna cum laude from Georgetown University Law Center.

Ms. Elgart is admitted to practice in California, the District of Columbia, and Massachusetts, and before the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the Third, Fourth, and Sixth Circuits and the U.S. District Courts for the Central District of California and the Eastern and Western Districts of Michigan.
